Bacău () is a county (județ) of Romania, in Moldavia, with its capital city at Bacău. It has one commune, Ghimeș-Făget, in Transylvania.

In October 20, 2011, it had a population of 616,168 and the population density was 93/km².〔

*Romanians – 96.1%
*Hungarians/Csángós – 0.7%
*Romani – 1.7%.
According to the 2001 census the Csángó ((ルーマニア語、モルドバ語():Ceangăi)) Hungarians number 4,373 people (0.7%).
